Step Up Into Life

I used to have a love I thought would never end
Until one day he told me he just wanted to be friends
The tears flowed long, and a river I did cry
Then I found me a better man, and the heartache passed me by

With my head held high, I'll step up into life
With my heart open wide, I'll love with all my might
And I wont look back, I'll keep walking toward the light
No matter how long the road, I wont give up the fight.

I used to have a job I thought would never fail
Until one day they told me I had to hit the trail
No work could I find, I lost my house and home
But now I make a fortune working on my own.

With my head held high, I'll step up into life
With my heart open wide, I'll love with all my might
And I wont look back, I'll keep walking toward the light
No matter how long the road, I wont give up the fight.

Dark times come, and dark times go
Fly so high, and fall so low
Both Joy and sorrow, just part of the show
And I'll always take my bow, and keep on smiling as I go..

Train of Sorrow

Packed my bags many a time
Down those rails I always flew
Followin’ a hollow dream
That was too good to be true ..too good to be true

I cant deny he had a pretty face
And a shady  silver tongue as well
Thought I was boarding the train to  heaven
But  ended up in hell

Train of Sorrow
I hear your whistle sigh
I’ll tip my hat and fare you well
And let you roll on by

Temptation, you’re a thing so sweet
We both know you sweep me off my feet
I been around long enough
To learn what  I’ve been taught
gonna learn what I been taught

Train of sorrow
I hear your whistle blow
The station that you’re heading for
Aint where I want to go

Next time that train beckons me
I’ll be taking  my own sweet time
I’ll consider very carefully
What’s waitin’ down that line..waitin down that line

Train of Sorrow
I hear your whistle sigh
I’ll tip my hat and fare you well
And let you roll on by
Train of Sorrow
You whistle sweet and low
I’ll stay on the platform
a smiling  as you go
I’ll stay on the platform
I'll give you a wave and a smile as you go..

Devil of an Angel

She's a little devil of an angel
Sets his heart on fire
She's a little devil of an angel
His soul desire
Don't let her fool you with that innocent smile

She don't want no diamonds
Or a band of gold
No, she don't need no diamonds
She's got that poor boys soul
It feels so right
Must be something wrong

When he thinks about her
He hears that Whippoorwill
When he dreams about her
She makes time stand still

She's a little devil of an angel
Sets his heart on fire
She's a little devil of an angel
His soul desire
Don't let her fool you with that innocent smile

She loves like no other
Takes his breath away
When she loves like no other
That poor boy better pray
And when she leaves,
She leaves him howling at the moon

She's a little devil of an angel
She's a little devil of an angel
She's a little devil of an angel

Nothin' Doin'

I gave you all I had
It wasn’t near enough
I smoothed out the road
You thought was far too rough

I laid out my bones
For you to walk upon
Thought  that was the  only way
To keep from going wrong

But now when darkness falls
I look it in the face
I say ‘you cant take nothing
that I cannot replace’
See clouds on the horizon
A storm there is a- brewing
The winds may howl all night long
And I say  ‘Nothing doing’

I don’t know what happened
To the  walk  we did on air
I don’t know how the heart can turn
From joy to ‘just don’t care’
I seen a million promises
Tumble down the stair
And land upon the shoulders
Of  heartache and despair

Now when darkness falls
I lay me down to rest
I been through the worst times
And I been through the best
I seen glory lay its head
Beside a day renewing
I look into the blackest night
And I say ‘Nothin Doin’

I seen plenty a good man
Cut down in his prime
I seen wickedness and greed
Use up my last dime
Gathered all my troubles
And  I made up my mind
To go lookin for the sunrise
I thought I’d never find

Too Much Smoke

I don't know exactly what's goin' on with you and me
Everything is so confusing, it's getting hard to see
Say you will and you say you won't
Say you do and you say you don't
C'mon babe now we're down to the wire

There's just Too much smoke, not enough fire
Too much smoke, not enough fire

Say you dont know what I want
but darlin I'm sure you do
Save the tea and save the coffee
'cause all I want is you
You say you're fast and you say you're slow
You say to stop and you say to go
C'mon babe now we're down to the wire

There's just Too much smoke, not enough fire
Too much smoke, not enough fire
Too much smoke...not enough fire, yeah
Too much smoke

I don't even know where we're goin'
But I know where we could be
Honey lately your love isn't flowin'
You're holding back on me
You say it is and you say it's not
You say you're cold and you say you're hot
C'mon babe now we're down to the wire

There's just Too much smoke, not enough fire
Too much smoke, not enough fire...

Ball and Chain

I aint no ball and chain
No I aint no ball and chain
My hands start sweatin' and it looks like rain
Out in the yard I'm prayin'
That I aint no ball and chain

I got no walkin shoes
Hey I got no walkin' shoes
My feet are humbled by the feel of the dew
Out in a yard of fools
Cause I got no walkin' shoes

There's a crack up in the sky
There's a crack up in the sky
My shoulders are aching as I learn to fly
Out of a yard of lies
On up to the crack in the sky

Honey keep your light down low
Baby, honey keep your light down low
Don't be calling me back with that darkly glow
Out in the yard of sorrow
Baby, honey keep your light down low

I got a bible in my house, someone taught me how to read
But if I don't save my soul tonight, its nobody's fault but mine

Nobody's fault but mine
Nobody's fault but mine
My heart she'll love you 'til the end of time
But in your yard she's blind
Yeah, yeah, in your yard she's blind

I got a bible in my house, someone taught me how to read
But if I don't save my soul tonight, its nobody's fault but mine
I got a monkey on my back, and I gave it room to breathe
But if I don't shake that load tonight, it's nobody's fault but mine

I aint no ball and chain
No I aint no ball and chain
My hands start sweatin' and it looks like rain
Out in the yard I'm prayin'
That you aint no ball and chain

Walk Your Journey

God came knocking on my front door
I kindly let Him in
I asked Him what He's doing here
He said He's always been

I told Him that I had my doubts
He didn't see to mind
He said the fact he has no proof
Makes trouble all the time

He said, "Walk Your Journey
Walk Your Journey,
You wanna walk your journey well
You never know which precious day will be your last
You wanna walk your journey well..
"

I asked God, "Do you care at all
If I don't believe in you?"
He said, "It don't matter much to me, though
You'll feel better if you do."

Then he said,"I don’t run the show
Like people think I do, and
It aint my job to grant your prayers
I’m here to see you through."

He said, " Walk Your Journey
Walk Your Journey,
You wanna walk your journey well
You never know which precious day will be your last
You wanna walk your journey well
"

"The wars are not my fault," God said,
"Nor sickness , pain or grief...
The only claim that I can make
Is bringing sweet relief."

I shook my head in disbelief
"No heaven or no hell?"
"No one gets out alive", He laughed
So Walk your journey well

Glory

In these tiny hands of mine,
What can I bring to all mankind?
Though my voice, here, softly sings
My words live on in everything

In this tender heart of mine
I'll give my love to all I find
The difference made, though be it small
Is mighty, once it's shared by all.

Glory one, glory all
Glory catch you when you fall
Glory you, glory me
Glory life, glory be

In the blackest hour of night
The smallest flame gives perfect sight
Turns the darkness into dawn
And lights the way to carry on

Glory one, glory all
Glory answer when you call
Glory you, glory me
Glory life, glory be
